The Limbic System Protocol - Phase I instruction will take place over the course of 4 days. In most cases this schedule will run from Thursday to Sunday, with each of the first three days including 8 hours of lecture, detailed demonstrations and supervised practitioner labs. Day four will conclude by 2:30 pm and will only have a 30 minute lunch break so those traveling can leave to make flights.

 

There are many basic skill labs that are required in order to properly administer the LSP. For some advanced practitioners this may prove to be more of a review, than exposure to new concepts. However, without establishing this base level of palpation and antomical proficiency, it will prove difficult to move the class forward together as a unit. For this reason, the lab TA's will ask for each student to show them how to perform these basic skills. This is more than a proficiency stage, as ultimately this about safety for those receiving the LSP.

 

Each step of the LSP will require a constant demonstration of these basic skills such that upon successful completion of even one step of the LSP, there is an increasing probability that a new practitioner can successfully deploy the additional steps. The basic skills that will be taught early in the LSP training, will be revisited and enforced throughout the instructional sessions to ensure that each student gains confidence in their ability to deploy the LSP safely and effectively.

 

Phase I of the LSP requires 16 labs to teach with a pace of approximately 4 labs per day. Some of these labs require a high level of supervision and as the group progresses through the course, the amount of supervision will no doubt decrease as the proficiency of each student improves from one step to the next.

 

It is our expectation that despite the amount of new information presented in this course, each student will feel confident and empowered to deploy aspects of the LSP on the first day back in their clinics. Full integration of the concepts and techniques of the LSP can be successfully implemented by most manual therapists within 2 months from the date of instruction.
